The Well-Tempered Clavier (ตัวย่อ WTC) คือหนังสือที่ Johann Sebastian Bach ประพันธ์ขึ้นมีทั้งหมด 2 เล่ม ประกอบด้วยบทเพลง Prelude & Fugue เล่มละ 24 บท สำหรับเดี่ยวเครื่องดนตรีประเภท Keyboard ทำให้เกิดจุดเริ่มต้นของจุดเปลี่ยนอีกมากมายในโลกดนตรีที่ส่งอิทธิพลมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
เนื่องจากในช่วงทศตรรษที่ 15 ได้มีการคิดค้นและเกิดระบบการ Tuning ขึ้นใหม่ ที่ทำให้เกิดระบบ 12 เสียงเท่ากันใน 1 Octave ระบบนี้ถูกเรียกว่า “Equal temperament“ (แต่เดิมจะไม่ได้ใช้ระบบนี้) ซึ่งทำให้บทเพลงสามารถมีได้ถึง 24 Key มาจนถึงปัจจุบัน (12 Major และ 12 minor)
ในบทเพลงชุดนี้ Bach ก็ได้แต่งขึ้นครบทั้ง 24 Key โดยเพลงแรกจะเริ่มที่ C Major ตามด้วย C minor หลังจากนั้นจะเพิ่มขึ้นทีละครึ่งเสียงจนถึง B ซึ่งจะมีทั้ง Major และ minor จนครับ 24 Key
